Timber Doors & Windows
Manufactured in Norfolk
Who We Are
Robert Mitchell Joinery is a Norfolk manufacturer of traditionally made timber doors and windows in hardwood and softwood. For all types of properties from a beautiful Norfolk country cottage to a fine period listed house. Established in 1984.
What We Do
Door frames and doors can be supplied as finished sets, with the door hung in the frame with either traditional mortise sash locks fitted or a multipoint locking system. Or supplied loose for on-site fitting.
Sash Windows
Traditional Boxed Sash windows, operated with traditional weights and pulleys for single glazed windows, often found in Victorian and Georgian houses. These use a lead or steel counterbalance weight housed in the boxed frame of the window to offset the weight of the glazed sash, a sash cord joins the sash and weight together, this sash cord runs over a pulley at the top of the frame.
Sash windows can also be operated on mechanical spiral balances. These mechanisms do not greatly alter the appearance of the window at all but they do give you the option of easily being able to counterbalance the weight of double glazed sealed units.
Casement Windows
Traditional flush casement windows are usually found in conservation areas or listed buildings in Norfolk. They are fitted with solid brass butt hinges and Aquamac weather seals. When closed the casements sit flush with the outside face of the window frame, hence the name flush casement.
Stormproof timber windows are found in houses generally from the 1950’s onwards. The casements stand forward of the window frame.
Replacement timber casements can be made to replace existing ones that may have seen better days, suffering from decay, they can sometimes be made with a deep enough glazing rebate to accept double glazed sealed units if required.
Finishing of Timber Doors & Windows
An option to have Painting or
Glazing is possible in the workshop for many jobs, thus ensuring that the double glazed units are correctly fitted.
